The DEFLOG Foundation
BackgroundThe DEFLOG Foundation was created in November 2008 as the charitable arm of DEFLOG VQ Trust Limited. The Foundation provides the conduit through which charitable funds can be dispersed to individuals, groups and organisations for the delivery of charitable educational programmes. The Foundation's AimsThe Foundation has a range of aims of a general educational nature; they are:
Ex-Service ProgrammeThe Ex-Service programme will be run in conjunction with a number of partners and will be aimed at education and training projects related to improving employment opportunities for ex-Service personnel. The Foundation aims to establish partnerships with other charitable organisations such as Service Associations and Charities supporting ex-Servicemen and women to provide additional support in rehabiliation, counselling, and training aimed at getting individuals into civilian employment or self employment. This aim is wholly compatible with the founding purpose of the DEFLOG VQ Trust, which is to provide Service personnel with transferable skills and qualifications, to aid their transition from military life to the civilian community. Service personnel are in most cases highly trained individuals whose skills are needed in the civilian sector, but they may require assistance in achieving the transition, particularly when injured or suffering the emotional effects of operations. The Director of the DEFLOG Foundation will be responsible for interfacing with other organisations and for reviewing the resulting project proposals developed by partnership organisations. He will also be responsible for the interface with potential providers and recipients, and for ensuring that the projects are delivered to the required standard and in accordance with the Trust's charitable remit. General Educational ProgrammeThis programme is aimed at supporting recruitment and retention within the Services through the promotion of Continuous Personal and Professional Development. The foundation aspires to raise the educational standards of Service personnel for the overall benefit of both the individual and the Armed Forces through the provision of learning opportunities. Below are a number of examples of the support provided by the Foundation:
Charitable Donation ProgrammeThis programme supports both service and civilian personnel in accordance with the Trust’s charitable articles and aims. The programme provides donations for the personal development of individuals and groups, especially those who are on learning programmes with DEFLOG VQ Trust Ltd. Accessing FundingEach year notification will be given of the level of funding available and the procedures to be used in bidding for grants and bursaries. Bursaries, sponsorship and grants are not a donation with nothing in return; the DEFLOG Foundation will expect updates on individual/group progress towards their given aim. The Foundation will also expect the activity, whether learning or other support to raise the profile of DEFLOG VQ Trust and its educational remit. Applicants must specify on their application how they intend to publicise the support they are requesting. Neil Searle Telephone: 01482 678304 Email: neil.searle@vqtrust.org.uk PDF Downloads
