Driving Goods Vehicles Advanced Apprenticeship
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles is a higher level qualification for drivers of LGVs. It is a qualification awarded by Skills for Logistics, the UK’s national logistic organization which oversees transportation training on behalf of the Government. The Advanced Apprenticeship combines NVQs at Levels 2 and 3 with Key Skills and a Technical Certificate in Road Freight Logistics to produce a highly sought-after qualification which meets the needs of both industry and employers. It is an ideal qualification for professional LGV drivers and is the industry’s top driver award. The Advanced Apprenticeship consists of the following elements: NVQ Level 2(Not required if learner has completed a DGV Apprenticeship within previous 5 years) The DGV Level 2 NVQ consists of seven separate units:
NVQ Level 3This NVQ consists of successful completion of the seven units at Level 2 plus the following 4 units:
Key Skills Level 2Key skills as shown below consist of a portfolio of evidence and an on-line test: Application of Number Level 3 BTEC Certificate in Road Freight LogisticsThis knowledge based qualification consists of 5 units: Unit 1 – Working Practices and Responsibilities Learning is through a bespoke workbook with tutor support and is followed by on-line tests for each unit. |
