A Short History of The Trust

2009: The Trust is subject to an Ofsted inspection as part of the overall inspection on the Army’s WBL provision.

2008: The Trust creates the DEFLOG Foundation to disperse £1m over 5 years to training and educational projects as part of the Trust's charitable remit.

2007: The Trust initiates the DEFLOG VQ Trust Apprenticeship Awards

2006: DEFLOG VQ Trust enters single Army contract and becomes a sub-contractor to Army Work Based Learning. Reporting to the Commanding Officers’ Groups (COGs) of the Infantry, Royal Logistic Corps (including RM and RAF), Royal Signals, Royal Engineers and Army Air Corps, The Trust achieves ISO 9001/2000 status.

2005: As a result of the initiation of ‘Project Velvet’ and the eventual requirement for the Trust to enter the project DEFLOG VQ Trust becomes company limited by guarantee and registers as an Educational Charity.

2004: DST VQ Trust re-branded as DEFLOG VQ Trust to reflect the defence logistics stakeholder base. Trust now employs over 140 staff in the UK and Germany

2000: DST VQ Trust created and takes responsibility for Logistics related Apprenticeship programmes, Work based learning delivery staff, equipment and Learning Skills Council funding.

1999: DST assumes responsibility for the RLC VQ project. Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) are established, equipped and staffed with assessors, Key Skills Tutors and administrators. DST launches Service Driver Apprenticeship programme.

1995: The Defence School of Transport (DST) develops Telecommunications NVQs and establishes the VQ Project Team (3 member military team).
